According to the Russian head of space agency, a British YouTube star was taken into Russian control at a Kazakhstan-controlled space center.
Dmitry Rogozin stated that Benjamin Rich, a travel blogger, was present near the Baikonur Cosmodrome launch pad with Alina Teliupa.
Rogozin stated that local authorities are determining the “exact level of participation in illicit activities” of the pair.
He uploaded photos of Mr Rich’s Visa and Ms Tseliupa’s Passport.
Rich is a specialist in travel to dangerous and remote parts of the globe and has over 3.5 million followers.
According to the blogger, he was released later by authorities and fined.
His most recent video was recorded in Syria and posted on April 24th.
He posted an Instagram message last week saying: “Syrian suntan, back in a country that has Soviet mosaics,” without indicating where he was.
On Instagram, Mr Rich announced that he was released and showed footage of himself showing off buildings from the former Soviet city.
“I woke up to many messages asking me if everything is okay. He said that people believe he is in a gulag due to a tweet.
“Basically, I was interrogated by Russian police for a while for going to Buran rocket without special permission. Also, I was given a PS60 administrative penalty just like many foreign adventurers before.
“The police were also kind enough to show me Baikonur, a closed city. It has a stunning mosaic of a Cosmonaut. Currently, I am in my hotel room, watching TC and eating Doshirak.
Tourists can now visit Baikonur if they apply to Roscosmos, the Russian space agency.
It is located approximately 1,100 km (680 miles) southwest of Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.
