Apartment block collapse in China kills 53 people

After a sudden collapse of a six-storey building in China, the rear left side, 53 people died.

It was believed that five people died when the commercial and residential building collapsed on April 29th.

However, the Chinese state media updated the number of casualties in the early hours Friday morning.

Ten people were rescued from Changsha in Hunan province’s building. The search operation was halted.

Six days after the collapse, the final survivor was pulled out of the rubble by a rescue team.

The woman had spent approximately 132 hours in the rubble.

The survivors are being treated at a hospital, where they are believed to be in good health.

Rain over the last few days could have provided water and food for them.

On suspicion of disregarding building codes or other violations, at least nine people were arrested.

The building’s owner, three design and construction people and five people who gave false safety assessments for a guesthouse on the fourth and sixth floors.
