Injured Briton captured in Ukraine by Russian forces and paraded on television

Russian forces captured a British soldier in military fatigues and paraded him on television.

Andrew Hill was named and filmed with a bandaged left hand and a temporary bandage around the head.

Sky News reports that he is 35 years old.

Reuters reported that he was filmed as he answered questions. He stated that he had traveled to Ukraineon his own to help the country.


Hill indicated a connection to the International Legion, an organization set up by Ukraine’s government for foreigners wanting to support the war effort.

When asked about his rank by his questioners, Briton replied: “I don’t have a rank… The Briton replied that he only knew the foreign legion suggested he could help.

Russia’s defense ministry stated that he surrendered to Russian troops at the Mykolaiv area of southwestern Ukraine.

This is also the area where Scott Sibley (36), a former soldier, was shot and killed just a few days back.

During filming Mr Hill stated that he was originally from Plymouth, had four children and a wife.

He added that Russian soldiers had taken his passport.

Russian forces also detained two other British citizens in Ukraine.

Aiden Aslin (28), and Shaun Pinner (48), were captured earlier in the month as they defended Mariupol, a southeastern city.

It was revealed that a British Army veteran was killed on Thursday. He was believed to have traveled to Ukraine to fight.

Although it isn’t clear when Scott Sibley (36), was killed, it is believed to have occurred in eastern or southern Ukraine a few days prior.

The family of Mr Sibley has been informed and is being supported in this matter by the Foreign Office.

Two British aid workers were reportedly captured while they are still in Russia.

Presidium Network, a UK non-profit organization, said that Paul Urey (45), and Dylan Healy (22), were captured Monday.

It is believed that they were seized at a checkpoint in the south of Zaporizhzhia, southeastern Ukraine.
