The US government announced a $5 million (PS3.8m), reward for information leading towards the arrest or conviction the leaders of Kinahan’s crime cartel.
After the US government had issued tough Russia-style sanctions against gang members, Claire Cronin, US ambassador to Ireland, stated that the reward would be given for information leading to financial disruption or arrest or conviction of Daniel Kinahan and his brothers Christopher Snr.

The United States’ dramatic intervention is seen as a significant blow to the crime gang. Drug and firearm trafficking began in Dublin, but has since spread to other countries.
Gregory Gatjanis, US dept. of the Treasury, stated that the Kinihans have joined the ranks of Camorra (Italian mafia organization) and Japan’s Yakuza.
Matt Horne, British’s NCA, who was involved in the international operation said today was a “huge blow to the Kinahans”.
They believed they were invincible, but we will pursue every avenue to stop their criminal activities. We won’t stop there.”
The sanctions allow money and assets that the Kinahans hold in the US or in US banks to be frozen. This is similar to restrictions placed on Russian oligarchs following the invasion of Ukraine.
They can have their credit cards blocked so they are unable to fly on US airlines.
The sanctions apply to the Kinahans and their three senior associates, all of whom are based in Dubai. John Morrissey, who is based in Spain, is also subject to the sanctions.
Hoopoe Sports, a UAE-based company, and Ducashew General Trading are both sanctioned. Nero Drinks, based in Glasgow and producing Nero Vodka, is also sanctioned.
According to the US, John Morrissey is either the owner or control of Nero Drinks and has “given a substantial portion of the business” to Daniel Kinahan in compensation for the many drugs that were seized by law enforcement.
American officials also claimed that Daniel Kinahan source large amounts of cocaine from South America and tries to import the drugs into the United Kingdom.
After the 2016 shooting at the Regency Hotel, he fled Ireland. Gunmen from the rival Hutch gang tried to kill him and an associate.
In the feud between these two gangs, at least 18 people were killed.
Daniel Kinahan resides in Dubai. He has been working with Tyson Fury and attempted to reposition himself in boxing promotion in recent years.
It is not possible to prove that Fury was involved with any criminal activity.
Two weeks ago Thomas “Bomber”, Kavanagh, was the “top man” in Britain for the Kinahans. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison at Ipswich Crown Court.
According to the National Crime Agency (NCA), he was responsible for a “commercial-scale” operation that involved the importation of cocaine and cannabis in excess of PS30m.
Gary Vickery, and Daniel Canning were also sentenced to lengthy prison terms.
Later this morning, Gardai (Irish police officers) will hold a news conference at Dublin. There, further details about the involvement of the British and Irish in the international operation against Kinahans’ will be made public.
