In California’s capital city of Sacramento, six people were killed and 10 others were injured by an early morning shooting.
Police are looking for at least one suspect in connection to the shootings that occurred in Sacramento’s downtown at 2am on Sunday.
According to Kathy Lester, the chief of police for the city, officers were on patrol when they heard gunfire.
They arrived at the scene to find a large crowd on the streets and six dead bodies.
The victims’ details are not known.
Ten other people were also hurt and took their own lives or were taken to the hospital. However, no information was available about their condition.
Investigators are unsure if any of the suspects were involved. They appeal to the public for assistance in identifying the responsible parties, including those with audio recordings.
Chief Lester did not provide details about the gun used but described it as “a very complicated and complicated scene”.
She claimed it took place near the Golden 1 Center where the Sacramento Kings basketball team plays, and concerts are held.
Shortly after the shooting was completed, a Twitter video of people running down the street and rapid gunfire was posted.
Footage also showed several ambulances on the scene.
On Twitter, Sacramento mayor Darrell Steinberg wrote: “Words cannot express my shock and sadness this morning.
“The number of wounded and dead is difficult to understand.
“We are still waiting for more information on this terrible incident.”
He said, “Rising gun violence, the scourge our city, state, and nation, is something I support in all actions to decrease it.”
Berry Accius, an activist in the community, stated that he arrived soon after the shooting.
He stated, “The first thing that I saw was like victims.”
“I saw a young woman with blood everywhere, a girl ripping glass off her, and a young girl screaming, ‘They killed our sister.
“A mother shouting, “Where is my son? Has my son been killed ?’.”?”
These shootings occur a little over a month after a man shot and killed his three children in the same city and then took his own life.
