His lawyer stated that a taxi driver filed a complaint against Elon Musk’s company on Sunday. This was just months after Musk’s Tesla Model 3 was involved with a Paris crash that resulted in the death of one person.
December 2021, an off-duty taxi driver crashed his Tesla through metal posts. This row of pay-to ride bikes and a glass recycling bin were ridden by a number of pedestrians.
Police were told by the unidentified driver that the car had been accelerating on its own and that he could not activate the brakes.
The Frenchgovernment reported that Tesla told them there was no immediate sign of a technical fault. However, G7, a taxi company, suspended the use the model from its fleet.
Sarah Saldmann representing the driver said that her client filed a criminal case with Versailles public prosecutors on Friday alleging that Tesla “put lives in danger”.
Sky News reached out to Tesla for comment but they did not respond.
Ms. Saldmann declined comment to say whether the complaint was made on the basis unpublished preliminary conclusions of investigators.
One person was killed, but three other people were also seriously hurt and 17 others were injured in the accident that occurred in the 13th arrondissement Paris . This area is lined by bars, restaurants, and shops.
Although the taxi driver is currently under investigation for manslaughter, he has not been charged. He also failed an alcohol test following the accident.
The Versailles public prosecutor will decide if Tesla has a case.
Tesla gathers detailed data from its sensors and cameras and uses this data to challenge claims of malfunctioning technology causing accidents.
