'None of us will give up': Doctor in Ukraine takes over David Beckham's Instagram account

David Beckham’s Instagram account was taken over by a Ukrainian doctor. It shows the working conditions in Kharkiv.

Iryna is the head regional perinatal center and a child anesthesiologist. She posted images of the centre to the former England footballer’s Instagram account on Sunday.

She shared photos of doctors caring for newborn babies, showed images of the basement in which patients were moved during World War II, and showed the UNICEF donated machines, which Beckham is an ambassador of.

Iryna stated that pregnant mothers and their babies were evacuated to the basement on the first day.

“It was a horrible three hours that we shared together. She said that babies in intensive care cannot be taken to the basement as they rely on life-saving equipment.

“The hardest days were the first. It was difficult to learn how to deal with strikes and bombings.

According to the doctor, she is at the facility every day. In addition to her duties as head of the centre she also works as a paediatricanesthesiologist, logistics specialist, and emotional support for patients.

Yana and Yana’s baby boy Mykhailo were featured by Iryna. Mykhailo was born with breathing problems on the second day.

The battle for Kharkiv, a northeastern Ukrainian city, has been a major site of fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces since the beginning of the war.

According to a Ukrainian presidential advisor, the battle for the city was one of the most deadly in the invasion. He called it the “Stalingrad” of the 21st Century.

It is heartbreaking to see innocent children in war zones

Beckham has been blogging about the effects of conflict on children since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

“The current situation in Ukraine is terrifying and devastating for its people. It is heartbreaking to watch the effects on innocent children who now live in war zones, as any parent would. He wrote this on 27 February.

“As conflict escalates, so do the children’s needs.”

Beckham also stated in a post on 11 March that “more than 1,000,000 Ukrainian children have fled their homelands within the last two weeks.” We are grateful to all who have donated to my 7 Fund for @UNICEF Emergency Appeal.

“I spoke with UNICEF’s James Elder, Lviv, Ukraine, to learn how donations are helping them reach the most vulnerable people.” This is truly an act of heroism in such terrible circumstances for children and their families.
