According to the UK’s Ministry of Defence, “stand-off munition” and unguided dumb bombs are being used by Russian troops to attack Ukraine.
The MoD has provided a new intelligence update and confirmed that Russia targeted Lutsk (and Ivano-Frankivsk) in the last 24 hours.
Russia has needed’stand-off munitions’ to strike targets deep within Ukraine because of Ukraine’s “staunch resistance”.
According to the MoD, “Such weapons can be indiscriminate or inaccurate, and they significantly increase the chance of civilian casualties.”
New satellite imagery shows what appears to be Russian artillery firing from a village located 17 miles northwest of Kiev, and damage to Hostomel Airport.
One of the photos shows a row artillery guns in Ozera, and it appears that servicemen are firing in a southeasterly orientation.
One of the guns captured a bright muzzle flash while smoke billows out of five other guns. This suggests that they were also fired recently.
Although the targets of the artillery bombardment are not known, four miles southeast from Ozera is Moschun, where satellite imagery shows multiple homes on the blaze.
The town is suffering extensive damage. You can see impact craters all around the place.
One of the Maxar images shows damage to buildings and fuel storage tank fires at Hostomel Airport.
In another photo, you can see long lines of cars with people fleeing Kyiv.
